This week at the Game Developers Conference, Dolby Laboratories said it will announce a new Dolby Pro Logic II encoder plug-in and launch a new PC game developer program. The new plug-in is called SurCode for Dolby Pro Logic II, and was developed by Minnetonka Audio. The plug-in is the first software application for Dolby Pro Logic II encoding, allowing sound designers and musicians to encode multichannel music and sound effects directly from their digital audio workstations. The encoder will be available as a stand-alone program and as a VST Plug-In. Pricing was not announced. Dolby is also introducing a new program to provide PC game developers with custom support, tools, and resources to get their PC games up and running with discrete Dolby Digital 5.1. Developers can register at the Dolby web site, or by emailing [email protected].
