Canadian software developer Di-O-Matic has announced the release of V1.5 of its Facial Studio software for Windows. This major point release of the facial animation software uses Alias’s FBX interchange file format to export 3D heads with custom defined shape deformations. Di-O-Matic reports that Facial Studio allows users to create heads based on photos in less than 10 minutes thanks to its PhotoMatching technology. The software can export to 3DS Max, Cinema4D, LightWave, Maya, MotionBuilder, XSI, and other 3D applications that use .FBX files. The stand-alone software, which began its development life as a 3D Studio Max plug-in, is currently being used by film and game industry notables including Blizzard, Konami, Disney, Pixar, Rockstar Games, and Ubisoft.
