GameInvestors.com CEO David Perry has announced that the company has completed its first multi-million dollar investment deal, as venture capital firm Mayfield invests in massively multiplayer online (MMO) game publisher Acclaim Games. Perry is well known as a vocal figure with the games industry and has overseen titles ranging from Earthworm Jim to Enter the Matrix. Since leaving Shiny Entertainment in February 2006, he has become involved in the production of several MMOs including 2Moons, DANCE! and what is currently codenamed as Top Secret - all for Acclaim Games. Investment portal GameInvestors.com was formed earlier in the year in order to facilitate investments into the games industry through direct funding, investment, bond financing, micro-lending and micro-financing. The company has also established two managed funds for investing directly into projects or companies. Perry commented: "Analysts have been calling us from around the world, very focused on this sector of the market. Acclaim was perfectly positioned in the game space, being entirely focused online, delivering microtransactions, pre-paid cards, digital distribution, massive audiences, in-game advertising, user-generated content, and with a portfolio of games for both casual and core demographics."
