D2C, RAW Studios Partner For Digital Comics

D2C Games, a recently established video game publisher focused on social games and online content distribution, has announced a partnership with comic and film company RAW Studios to digitally distribute independent comics as “digital video comics” as part of D2C’s new studio, D2 Comics. As part of its deal with RAW Studios, D2 Comics will deliver “feature-rich multimedia versions” of Bad Planet and Alien Pig Farm 3000, the initial projects from RAW Studios’ founder Thomas Jane, writer Steve Niles (City of Others) and artist Tim Bradstreet (Preacher). The comics will be available for download PC, PSP, and mobile devices this fall. In addition, the agreement also includes a “first-look deal” giving D2C the opportunity to develop games for RAW Studios as well as the rights to digitally distribute the company’s films to gaming platforms. Founded by former Electronic Arts executive and John Madden Football originator Scott Orr and technology expert Bart Besseling, D2C Games revealed to Gamasutra earlier this year that the studio had partnered with multiple content creators, including comic book writers, to create and publish episodic content, as well a line of casual social sports games. "Thomas and Steve bring extensive talent and enthralling storylines to the table and we're able to expand upon that to fill out their vision," said Jim Flaharty, General Manager and Senior Vice President of D2C Games. "In turn, we are delivering that completed vision to the fans, whether it's digital video comics, video games, or even movies."
