Criterion Software announced the launch of Renderware Studio, a multi-platform game production environment. Criterion hopes Renderware Studio will provide a more powerful framework for collaborative development. Criterion believes collaborative features, such as the ability to view the game state at any time, will both facilitate creativity among developers and help reduce risks for publishers. The software, currently in beta testing, will be available commercially in Q3 2002. RenderWare Studio is a PC server, which is based around a DCOM server and integrated with NxN’s Alienbrain asset management software. RenderWare Studio Manager makes new assets (art, audio, code, etc.) available to the development team whenever those assets are changed or added. RenderWare Studio also allows remote teams to update each other in real time, over the Internet.
