Criterion Software has launched RenderWare Audio 2.0 for the PS2, the latest version of the company's real-time multi-channel audio system. Version 2 contains the following new features:

  • Support for interleaved substreams to enable instant switching between streams

    • Command queuing, which allows beat-matched switching between streams or interactive music applications

    • An enhanced wave dictionary editor with extended compatibility, functionality and increased performance

    • The ability to edit parameters (bit-rate, frequency, target format, and so on) for each wave

    • Run-time wave conversions using RenderWare Audio API

    • Support for multiple memory management strategies

    • Reduced memory usage of the entire system

    • A new PS2 streaming system for making better use of the input/output processor

    • Support for Dolby Pro Logic II and Dolby Digital 5.1 playback Pricing information was not disclosed.
