Officials from development tool provider Metrowerks announced that the company has entered into an agreement with Nintendo to provide the official development suite for the Nintendo DS handheld. The suite contains functionality to help leverage the console’s dual ARM core architecture, including a multi-core, thread-aware debugger; ARM linker overlays that reduce memory consumption; a command line interface; and an ARM compiler fully optimized to work with the Nintendo DS. Nintendo has apparently already distributed the Metrowerks CodeWarrior kits to more than 100 companies worldwide. The Nintendo DS is scheduled for release in North America and Japan before the end of 2004, and in Europe during the first quarter of 2005. Source: Metrowerks
