Los Angeles-based, long-time UK developer Climax has announced ambitious plans to expand its new 16,000 sq ft Santa Monica office, suggesting it intends to hire 80 new staff over the next few months as it aggressively builds its U.S. presence. This move comes after the launch of the company's first U.S.-developed title, the Xbox conversion of Tron 2.0 Killer Application for Buena Vista Games. The company's UK studios have also recently released titles including Xbox RPG Sudeki for Microsoft and PlayStation 2 racing title ATV Offroad Fury 3 for Sony. David Schwartz, President of the LA Studio, commented on this announcement: "We’re particularly excited by the opportunities this move gives us to create the next generation of hit games for Xbox2 and PlayStation 3. We’re working closely with SCEA on a high profile title for 2005, too." Climax also recently announced a new 'Climax Action' combined studio for the UK, as well as disclosing new information on its next-generation development tool set Tomcat.
