Representatives from Cartoon Network have announced details of the second annual “Project Goldmaster” competition, to be launched at the Independent Games Festival next week, part of Game Developers Conference. As part of the scheme, a budding independent game developer will be invited to create a Cartoon Network Power Play downloadable game featuring characters from series such as Codename: Kids Next Door, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, to be featured on CartoonNetwork.com. "We know there is a great deal of talent and creativity in the independent gaming community, and Project Goldmaster will be a significant opportunity for an up-and-coming developer," said Paul Condolora, VP/General Manager for Cartoon Network New Media. Last year's winner was two year old developer Flashbang Studios, who went on to develop a Cartoon Network Power Play game featuring the Adult Swim series Sealab 2021, and were recently interviewed regarding it on Gamasutra.com. The game, Sealab 2021: Sweet Mayhem, launched on AdultSwim.com in November 2004 and Flashbang Studios now has three original titles in development.
