Using $35,000 (Canadian) in scholarships as its lure, the school hopes to attract women to its full-time degree program in game development, and in turn, bring more women to the game industry. "The days of gaming being a bastion of male dominance are coming to an end," said Ashley Matheson, Game Development Department Head at CDIS. The CDIS programs for game development are 2-3 years, and tuition is approximately $10-$12,000 (Canadian) per year. The college, established 22 years ago, also offers programs in animation, visual effects, media arts, acting, digital film acting and audio production. The scholarship application deadline is April 2, 2002. For information and to download an application package, go to the school's web site at http://www.gameschool.com.
