Brian Fargo to Speak at IEEE Orange County SIG Event

Brian Fargo, Founder of Interplay Productions and InXile Entertainment will present "How to Survive in the Video Game Business" during the IEEE Orange County Game Engineering SIG gathering on Monday, October 23 in Newport Beach, California.

Brian Fargo, Founder of Interplay Productions, where he has produced over three hundred titles, and InXile Entertainment, known for titles such as The Bards' Tale, will present "How to Survive in the Video Game Business" during the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE) Orange County Game Engineering Special Interest Group gathering on Monday, October 23 in Newport Beach, California. The gathering starts at 6:00pm with a social hour and a dinner followed by the presentation at 7:00pm. Although the dinner has charged entry, Fargo's talk is available free. The talk will address how to start a company, how to make a hit game, and how the economics of game industry work. Fargo will also speak to issues include trade-offs and control of intellectual property. Fargo has been in the software publishing industry since 1983 when he founded Interplay Productions (now Interplay Entertainment Corporation). While at Interplay, Fargo brought Universal/MCA in as a 45% equity partner and later took Interplay public in 1998. In addition to Interplay, Fargo formed an online entertainment company with partner Softbank in 1996 and sat on the board of Virgin Europe after it was acquired by Interplay in 1998. Fargo has served on the board of the IDSA and has given key speeches at the industries leading shows such as E3, Global Gaming Forum and the Computer Game Developers.
