Boxx Technologies announced its new 3D Boxx S2 series of workstations based on the new Intel Xeon 1.7 GHz processors. Designed for Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows NT or Linux, the 3D Boxx S2 workstations are optimized for 3D and animation software programs such as Maya, 3D Studio Max, Softimage 3D, Light Wave 3D and Houdini. The new workstations have dual Intel Xeon 1.7GHz processors and the Intel 860 chipset, with up to 4GB 800MHz Dual Interleaved RAMBUS with (8) RIMM slots. It has a 4X AGP Pro 50 graphics port, dual channel Ultra 160 SCSI and dual channel Ultra DMA 100 IDE controllers. The 3D Boxx S2 series of workstations start at around $3,900.
