The suit concerned New Line's plans to release a film named Diablo that features a title character of the same name. A federal judge has awarded a preliminary injunction motion against New Line, which will prevent the studio from promoting, advertising, or releasing their planned film under the name Diablo or anything that could pose confusion with or potentially dilute Blizzard Entertainment's trademarks to the Diablo name. Blizzard holds the Diablo trademark for computer games, and already has a pending intent-to-use application for the Diablo trademark for motion picture production and distribution.
