AGEIA Technologies has announced that Big Huge Games is using the AGEIA PhysX chip for hardware acceleration of the company's upcoming sci-fi and fantasy real-time strategy game Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends, to be published by Microsoft Game Studios. Big Huge Games is using AGEIA's NovodeX SDK to drive all physics for game play and effects, so that even those who don't buy a PhysX chip will be able to enjoy certain levels of real-time physics while playing the game. However, when accelerated by AGEIA's PhysX chip, Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends will deliver what the company describes as "a level of physics-based realism and interactivity unlike anything ever seen before in electronic games." There's more information on both the NovodeX SDK and the hardware PhysX chip solution on AGEIA's official website.
