In this week's Australian video game sales charts, EA's Need for Speed: Most Wanted, specifically the PlayStation 2 version, maintains its healthy lead ahead of the cops, other racers, and all other games on the countdown with another #1 showing. Several other games also remained static, including WWE SmackDown! vs. Raw 06, still at #3; Ricky Ponting International Cricket 05, still at #6, and Need for Speed: Most Wanted on Xbox, still at #7. Games new to the top 10 this week are the Xbox version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which tends to flit on and off the charts at random. It debuts higher up at #4, sending another game in its own series, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories for PSP, down one notch to #5. On the lower reaches, World of Warcraft has crept back up to #9, and Nintendogs: Dachshund & Friends has come crawling back to #10. Finally, despite the increase in sales last week for peripheral-based games, disaster has struck for the booming subgenre: one of the games, SingStar 80s Bundle, has fallen off the charts. It's survived by Buzz: the Music Quiz Bundle, holding out at #2, and EyeToy: Play 3, which has fallen to the perilous position of #8, the same place that SingStar occupied last week. Could another one be about to bite the dust? Tune in next week.
