ATI Technologies announced the Mobility Radeon 9000 graphics processor today, the first mobile graphics processor to support fully programmable pixel and vertex shading. Features include:

  • Programmable pixel and vertex shaders, and support for DirectX 8.1.

    • A quad-pipe 3D architecture -- four parallel rendering pipelines.

    • Powerplay 3.0, a new version of ATI's power management technology which extends battery life in 3D applications and DVD playback.

    • Fullstream technology which accelerates video, removes blocky artifacts and improves the quality and scalability of streaming video using the chip's pixel shaders.

    • Multi-display support. The Mobility Radeon will begin shipping in notebook PCs within the next month.
