Today at the NAB show, Alias launched version 6 of its Maya 3D modeling and animation package. Slated to be available for download beginning April 26, Maya 6 adds features focused on improving character realism, including the repurposing of animation clips onto other characters, enhanced dynamic cloth and hair generation, among others. It also provides integration with Photoshop, support for PNG and the DirectX DDS file formats, and the ability to use Maya Paint Effects on polygon meshes.
