The Association of Electronic Interactive Marketers (AEIM) announced today that the Sims creator Will Wright will be honored with the association's first-ever Hall of Fame Award. This award recognizes Wright's career of creative achievement, which includes, among other things, creating the best-selling computer game of all time with the Sims. Wright will both receive the award and speak during the inaugural MI6 Conference and Awards Show, June 27-28. Wright has created a number of notable video games in his career, including the 1989 PC hit SimCity. Wright designed several other Sim games, and was one of the pioneers of sandbox games that give players a number of toys with which to interact within a game that could never be truly won or lost. 2000's release of The Sims surpassed all previous PC video game sales records to become the best-selling PC game of all time. "Will Wright has had a revolutionary impact on the electronic games industry," said Jim Chabin, President & CEO of MI6 and AEIM. "As our industry and millions of fans worldwide anxiously await what promises to be a spectacular experience with his newest creation, Spore, our board felt that now was an excellent time to acknowledge this person's impact on all of us."
