Officials from publisher Activision have announced the signing of a new digital distribution agreement with Protexis for the company’s RED service, which will see PC titles such as Call of Duty and Vampire: The Masquerade available for download via online retailers. The RED (Retail Electronic Distribution) service was launch in 2006 and designed specifically for online retailers. Under the terms of the new agreement Protexis has added Activision’s PC titles to its RED catalog, with confirmed titles including Call of Duty, Call of Duty: United Offensive, Call of Duty 2 and Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. "The signing of our agreement with Activision serves as further validation by a leading software publisher of the value of digital distribution," said Karl Hirsch, CEO of Protexis. "This agreement, featuring the blockbuster Call of Duty series, is just the beginning of our relationship with Activision, which will grow over time - and will ultimately accelerate retail adoption of RED." "We're pleased to have entered into a partnership with Protexis," stated Jon Estanislao, senior manager of online publishing at Activision. "Digital distribution through established online retailers is important to Activision. Through the growing Protexis RED retail network, Activision will be able to reach an even greater number of gamers and increase its bottom line."
