Acclaim today announced that Paul Eibeler, former Take-Two President, has been appointed its new president and COO for North America.
As president, he will oversee the the company's North American operations, including product development, marketing, sales and manufacturing. He will report to Acclaim's CEO, Rod Cousens. Eibeler's tenure at Take-Two began January 2000 and lasted until early 2003 when he left on medical leave. At Acclaim, Eibeler will have his hands full with various challenges currently facing the company. Acclaim just announced that it is the focus an SEC probe of industry accounting practices, the company has numerous class-action lawsuits pending that allege that executives mislead investors about the company's financial status, and recent games like Turoc: Evolution and Aggressive In-Line haven't performed up to company expectations. Eibeler, who ran Take-Two during the launch of the hits Grand Theft Auto and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, may be the company's last chance for a turnaround before it runs out of cash.
