Indie developer 1st Playable has announced it is seeking speakers for panels on “Teachers Using Games” and “Emerging Pedagogies” as part of an upcoming symposium on games in education taking place July 23 at Troy, NY's Rensselaer Technology Park.

1st Playable, an independent game development studio with a focus on handheld games for children, is helping to organize a one-day symposium on the topic of the use of computer games to supplement and inspire in-classroom education. The symposium on games in education will take place Monday, July 23, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at WMHT's Winifred Touhey Public Broadcasting Center in the Rensselaer Technology Park in Troy, New York. Panel topics include “Teachers Using Games” and “Emerging Pedagogies.” Chris Olytan from 1st Playable is currently finding speakers with experience in these areas. The event is open to the teaching public. Researchers who have interest in this field but are unable to attend may receive a takeaway package that will be provided to all attendees to share with school administration concerning the utilization of games as teaching tools.
