Filmmaker Crystal Sky announced that it has secured rights to make a film based upon Tekken, which reportedly will have a $60 million budget.
Under the terms of the movie deal, Crystal Sky will co-develop and co-finance the live-action film with Gaga Communications of Japan, which also gets Japanese distribution rights. Crystal Sky landed the rights to the movie after Namco put the license up for bids. To date, Tekken games have sold more than 18 million units worldwide. According to Blake Murdoch of The Hollywood Reporter, the cast and director are under consideration. No release date was announced.
