Sony representatives have released a set of statistics that claim that SOCOM II alone is more popular than the whole of Xbox Live. Since May 2004 SOCOM II has averaged 373,000 player hours per day – more player hours daily than all the Xbox titles world-wide. The total number of player hours for SOCOM II is now at almost 94 million hours or the equivalent of 10,835 years of straight gameplay. These impressive figures have been achieved despite disappointing sales in both Europe and Japan and further underline how few people have actually signed up to the Xbox Live service (currently only 7% of the user base) and how easy it is for Sony to attract greater numbers of online users with currently just 3% of their 70+ million user base.
