A number of veterans of THQ’s Saints Row title for the Xbox 360 have left developer Volition to form their own company named Blazing Lizard in Savoy, Illinois. The new development studio claims to be “dedicated to producing high quality and compelling console downloadable games for all ages and demographics.” The core development team is lead by Sandeep Shekar and Christopher Stockman, who acted as the lead design team for Saints Row, and by Jiovanie Velazquez, previously studio artist manager at Volition. Shekar will take the role of company president, Stockman that of studio director and Velazquez creative director. Together the trio claim over thirty years of industry experience, including other titles such as the Red Faction series , the Summoner series, The Punisher, Freespace and Star Trek: Elite Force 2. The studio’s first game will use a new original intellectual property of the company, although no specific platform is indicated as yet. The game will be unveiled in detail on Monday, August 13th.
