Sony Computer Entertainment America says that Insomniac Games' Resistance 2 will hit North America on November 4, and will debut with a limited collector's edition. The PlayStation 3 title's collector's edition, which will be available for $79.99, will include a Chimeran Hybrid action figure created by DC Unlimited, a double-sided hardcover art book, an in-game HVAP Wraith multiplayer weapon skin, a bonus DVD, and a copy of Resistance 2 with special edition cover artwork selected by fans. The bonus DVD will feature a preview of upcoming novel Resistance: The Gathering Storm by William Deitz, a digital copy of Issue #0 of Wildstorm's Resistance comic book series, a behind-the-scenes video of Resistance 2's development, and a chronology video of the first-person shooter's universe and storyline. SCEA will also hold a worldwide competitive online multiplayer and co-operative beta for Resistance 2 through the PlayStation Network beginning in early October. Players who pre-order the game through retailer GameStop or who purchase an annual subscription of multimedia PlayStation Network publication Qore receive "premium access" to the beta. An open access option will also be provided, through which players can register for the program and, if selected, play the public beta after the premium access period. Gamers who purchased Qore Episode 03 will be guaranteed access to the public beta. Said Insomniac Games CEO and president: "With an eight-player, co-op campaign and 60-player squad-based competitive multiplayer, Resistance 2 offers players a complete online experience on a scale like no other. We really value the feedback of the Resistance community and are excited to open the beta and provide our dedicated fan base an early look at Resistance 2's multiplayer features."
