Online entertainment marketplace and social site Fanista.com has announced the release of Cosmic Osmo's Hex Isle, the latest game from Myst and Riven developer Cyan Worlds, to be sold exclusively on Fanista. The all-ages Cosmic Osmo's Hex Isle is a puzzle game featuring real-time 3D levels and a scoring system involving three different styles of gaming -- strategy, speed and score. Fanista.com is serving as both the publisher and the exclusive distributor of the title. Cosmic Osmo's Hex Isle is a sequel to the 1989 Macintosh title Cosmic Osmo and the Worlds Beyond the Mackerel, which in turn was based off of some of the themes and game mechanics in Cyan's The Manhole. According to Fanista, Cosmic Osmo and the Worlds Beyond the Mackerel was awarded Newsweek's best computer game of the year award in 1989 and the Mac User award in 1990. Cyan Founder and CEO Rand Miller said, "Cosmic Osmo has long been a favorite around here. Fanista.com offered us a great opportunity to break out of our Myst box and return to some whimsical roots. It’s been a blast for us to leverage the technology and talent we have assembled over the years to bring this all new Osmoian diversion to life.”
