Microsoft will release Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas as an Xbox Originals downloadable title, enabling users to download the game directly to their hard drives. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will appear on the U.S. Xbox Live Marketplace on October 20th for 1200 Microsoft Points. Plans to release the title as a downloadable game in other regions have yet to be announced. The game will join 21 other currently available Xbox titles in the Xbox Originals catalog, which includes Halo: Combat Evolved, Ninja Gaiden Black, and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. Originally released for PlayStation 2 in 2004, then for Xbox 360 and PC in the following year, the game sold 21.5 million units across all platforms as of March, 2008, according to Rockstar parent Take-Two Interactive.
