FIFA Loses Out To Manager In Busy UK Chart

EA’s FIFA 06 has been knocked off the number one spot in the UK sales charts after just three weeks, dislodged from its perch by fellow soccer title Football Manager 2007. The number one entry appears to have sealed the game’s dominance of the genre in the UK, easily topping sales of Eidos' Championship Manager - on which developers Sports Interactive previously worked. Championship Manager was previously the best selling PC title in the UK, but its unclear yet whether Football Manager has reclaimed that accolade as well. The top ten includes three other entries, with EA’s The Sims 2 Pets appearing as an expansion on the PC and as a standalone game on the consoles – with other versions to follow in the coming weeks. Similarly, Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell: Double Agent has debuted only with the Xbox 360 version, with the other current generation versions due next week. EA’s controversial Battlefield 2142 is the final new entry in the top ten and the third PC exclusive title in the list, debuting at number seven. Elsewhere in the top forty, THQ’s Destroy all Humans! 2 has had a disappointing first week, entering only at number twenty-one.
