Take-Two and 2K Marin's BioShock 2 debuted at number one on UK retail sales charts for the week ended February 13, 2010, as last week's front-runner, Mass Effect 2, dropped down to eighth, Chart-Track said Monday. The follow-up to Irrational Games' 2007 original saw a worldwide release on February 9 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. UK-based Chart-Track said BioShock 2 is the “biggest release this year so far” on the firm's all-platforms rankings, which lump together sales of all versions of a given title. The game toppled Electronic Arts and BioWare's space-faring role-playing game Mass Effect 2, which led the UK charts for the two weeks prior to BioShock 2's release. Sales of Mass Effect 2, released on Xbox 360 and PC, dropped 58 percent week-on-week. In second place on the charts for the most recent week was Ubisoft's Wii-exclusive music game Just Dance. Released in November 2009, the game has hovered at or near the top spot on UK sales charts, with Chart-Track noting the title's “great legs.” EA's soccer game FIFA 10, released in October last year, saw a 53 percent week-on-week rise in sales thanks to price promotions, Chart-Track said, pushing the game to the number three spot. Sales of Sega and Platinum's highly-acclaimed action game Bayonetta moved up to number 10 from number 38. The Xbox 360 and PS3 game released in the UK in early January. Chart-Track also noted a “heavy drop” in sales of EA and Visceral Games' Dante's Inferno, which fell from fourth to ninth. The only two games to drop out of the top 10 from last week were Ubisoft's James Cameron's Avatar: The Game, which fell to 12th from 10th, and Sony's MAG, which fell to 22nd from seventh.
