Representatives from software provider Butterfly.net have announced a partnership with the Cal-(IT)2 Game Culture & Technology Lab, in association with the San Diego Supercomputer Center at UCSD, for the launch of the Game Research Grid - the first ever massively multiplayer platform for use in games research. The company’s grid game software will be installed on high-performance systems and networks at the San Diego Supercomputer Center and be made available to researchers, instructors, artists and independent game developers for research in multiplayer game worlds. Proposals will be considered on an ongoing basis beginning November 15 at: http://www.ucgamelab.net or http://visservices.npaci.edu/gaming/index.htm
