Massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) expert Nick Yee has created a summary website detailing his extensive survey of North American MMO users. Named 'The Daedalus Gateway', the site contains a free library of detailed statistics from a survey of over 35,000 players. Yee’s research began in the autumn of 1999 and has charted the rising, and sometimes falling, fortunes of the genre and its players. Yee intends the gateway as a set of 'thematic primers', covering subjects such as the demographics of players, motivations of play, relationship forming and critiques and concerns. The author, currently a PHD candidate at Stanford University, also produced a detailed article on this subject for Gamasutra's MMO resource guide released earlier this year.
