What makes a good Sonic the Hedgehog game?
To be honest, we’re not entirely sure. Some of us at Gamasutra love the Sonic Adventure series, for all its flaws, some are rabid fans of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean machine. But we’ve all been enamored with Sega’s newest release Sonic Mania.
It’s bright, it’s colorful, and despite the 2-decade gap, it feels like the best Sonic games of the ‘90s. So today on the Gamasutra Twitch channel, we took some time to stream the new game, talk about our Sonic memories, and try to pin down why this game feels so good.
You can watch the full video above, and while you’re at it, be sure to follow the Gamasutra Twitch channel for more developer interviews, editor roundtables and gameplay commentary.
