Today we learned what Amazon Game Studios has been working on -- a full lineup of games for Amazon's Fire TV console, including the launch title Sev Zero. Billed as an "innovative mix of tower defense and third-person shooter gameplay," Sev Zero was the gaming highlight of Amazon's Fire TV unveil event today and is available right now for roughly $7 in the Amazon Appstore for Android, though it's exclusive to Fire TV and requires the use of the console's optional $40 game controller to play. More interesting is the fact that someone else with a Kindle Fire HD or HDX can download the game's companion game, Sev Zero: Air Support, and pair up with someone playing Sev Zero to help by firing missiles, placing explosives and the like. The companion app is only available on Kindle Fire tablets right now, but Amazon claims it will be coming to iOS in the near future. As far as future Fire TV games go, Amazon Game Studios remains tight-lipped about the details of what it's working on but has released a bass-heavy teaser trailer (embedded above) showcasing footage from some of the games the studio claims are "coming soon." Amazon Game Studios was first revealed in August 2012, and debuted casual games before (at some unspecified point) moving on to projects for the Fire. Last month, Amazon bolstered the studio by acquiring Double Helix Games, developers of Killer Instinct for the Xbox One. Gamasutra has reached out to representatives of Amazon Game Studios for further comment on the studio's plans.
