NewsThis week on "Best Of Indie Games," we take a look at some of the top independent PC Flash/downloadable titles released over this last week. The goodies in this edition include a game about building and managing Linux distribution packages, a Western-themed platformer for iOS devices, a retro game in which you play as a Neo Geo home cartridge collector, plus a handful of interesting picks from MolyJam 2012. Here's some recent highlights from IndieGames.com: Game Pick: 'Linux Tycoon' (Bryan Lunduke, commercial indie) "In Linux Tycoon, players are tasked with fixing bugs, choosing software packages, and keeping file sizes low in a Linux distribution package that will be evalutated and rated by your peers. This is all handled in simple, management-focused gameplay that simulates the fun parts of building a distro." Game Pick: 'Italian Rocket Riders' (Andrew Sum, freeware) "What makes Italian Rocket Riders amusing is the fact that it will allow you to know exactly when you run over a young pedestrian. Why? Because they're everywhere in this game. Everywhere." Game Pick: 'Pause Ahead' (Tadakuni Amano and Frankiesmileshow, freeware) "A deeply sadistic run and jump platformer, Pause Ahead is filled with a rather large collection of sharp, pointy things and an unusual twist. Here, when you press pause, your character will continue to retain its momentum." Game Pick: 'Gunman Clive' (Bertil Horberg, commercial indie) "Gunman Clive is a platformer/shooter that takes place mostly in traditional Wild West settings, with occasional trips to outer space. The game features several impressively large boss characters, along with some advanced platforming via tilting floors and autoscrolling sequences." Game Pick: 'NGCollector' (Sebastian Mihai, freeware) "NGCollector is a game that simulates the travels and travails of a Neo Geo home cartridge collector. Most action takes place at a flea market, where players can expect to pay the average collector's price for game." Game Pick: 'Let's Protest!' (Matthias Zarzecki, freeware) "Let's Protest! is one of the many delightfully weird games spawned during the 2012 MolyJam and the very first game that lets us actually protest both its environment and its rules."
