Toronto-based Five Mobile will now be known as Zynga Toronto, with the social gaming giant acquiring the mobile game specialists and "certain assets and IP" they have developed. The new studio, headed by Five Mobile founder Ameet Shah and joined by co-founders Jeff Zakrzewski, Oliver Tabay and Troy Hubman, will work with the existing Zynga mobile team on advancing the company's efforts to recruit Canadian developers. Zynga didn't announce specific terms of the acquisition, the company's 13th in the last 18 months. Recent IPO filing documents showed Zynga has spent $123 million on acquisitions since the start of 2010, including $53.3 million for Words with Friends maker NewToy. Zynga filed for a $1 billion IPO on July 1. The first Canadian location for San Francisco-based Zynga joins other international subsidiaries in Beijing, Tokyo, Frankfurt and Bangalore.
