Swedish game group Zordix Game Group has purchased game publisher Maximum Games for a total of $42 million.

If those combination of names caught you off guard, don't worry, it did so to us too. Maximum Games has been quietly fretting away at becoming a well-oiled machine, helping games like Among Us, and Five Nights at Freddie's make it to physical retail shelves.

In a presentation for investors, Zordix states that it aims to bring Maximum Games into the European "AA publishing space." Maximum Games has already had partnerships with several developers in the space for years, partnering with European operations like Focus Home, Bigben Interactive, and Funcom.

Zordix also called out the acquisition of game publisher (and developer) Modus as part of the acquisition, stating that it aims to pursue original in-house development with Modus Studios, while Modus and Maximum Games expand its portfolio as a publisher.
