Newsbrief: Game makers interested in mucking around with a developer edition of Valve and HTC's Vive virtual reality headset can now apply for a free dev kit via this Steam sign-up page.
Valve claims Vive dev kits will begin shipping out to select developers this spring, and each will include a headset, two motion-tracking base stations and a pair of SteamVR controllers.
Of course a handful of developers, including Owlchemy Labs, have already been working with these dev kits to create SteamVR demos.
Gamasutra editor-in-chief Kris Graft wrote about his hands-on experience with some of them at GDC earlier this year, and later opined that "it finally feels like VR is reaching a place in which the focus can start moving away from VR technology, and more towards the way we interact within VR as human beings."
