World of Tanks developer Wargaming is calling on devs to submit their unreleased multiplayer PC or mobile games to its WG Labs Dev Contest for a chance to win $10k in prize money.
The company is trying to attract developer attention to its nascent WG Labs accelerator program, which it debuted last summer as an arm of the company aimed supporting both internal and external game development projects.
If you're making a game that matches the contest's requirements, this could be a notable opportunity to get a bit of extra financial support. Wargaming is likely also hoping to drum up some fresh opportunities for WG Labs through this contest, as the rules include a note that "the Organizer may also select one or several games out of competition for joint launch and promotion to customers."
To qualify, your multiplayer game must be unreleased but past the alpha stage of development, and slated to launch on either a PC or mobile platform. It can be free-to-play or not, but WG Labs also expects it to incorporate at least three of the following features: item collecting, RPG or "micro-management" elements, randomly-generated content, some sort of PvP, or a "user-friendly" leveling systems (think: skill trees.)
Developers curious to learn more about the competition can check out the full contest rules and submit projects via the WG Labs website. Entries are due by the end of April, and results are slated to be announced at the end of May.
