Video: Hall and Romero's Doom postmortem

Designers John Romero and Tom Hall deliver a postmortem on their prolific first-person shooter, Doom, 17 years after its release in this free video lecture from GDC 2011.
Doom is over two decades old, and its design philosophy continues to influence the course of the gaming industry. To understand how it came together, Gamasutra today is re-posting this talk from the GDC Vault. Then id Software designers John Romero and Tom Hall deliver a postmortem on their prolific first-person shooter, Doom, 17 years after its release in this free video lecture from GDC 2011, courtesy of the GDC Vault. Their trip back in history begins two years before the game's 1993 release. The two show never-before-seen material as they relive the month-by-month development of Doom, leading up to a last-minute bug involving the timer on which the game runs.
