Valve designer Greg Coomer has told Axios the company is working on multiple game projects.

During a discussion about Steam Deck, Coomer was asked about the current state of in-house development at Valve and said the company has a few irons in the fire.

"There are multiple games in development right now at Valve, and I think they're pretty exciting ones," commented Coomer, who reiterated the studio's latest release, a video game short called Aperture Desk Job designed to showcase Steam Deck, is only an bitesized morsel.

In recent years, Valve has focused its efforts on creating experimental releases or new series like VR shooter Half Life: Alyx, auto battler Dota Underlords, and collectible card game Artifact.

The company has also been busy creating hardware like Steam Deck, Valve Index, and the Steam Controller, leaving some to wonder whether it will ever return to more traditional development and revisit franchises like Portal and Left 4 Dead.

Of course, Coomer's comments aren't exactly confirmation that any of those series are being revived, but it's still interesting to hear Valve has a few plates spinning down in the development trenches.
