UK retailer Game has agreed to purchase Spanish eSports platform SocialNAT for an undisclosed fee.

SocialNAT has over 150,000 registered users and previously helped organized events at the 2015 Madrid Games Week, including the qualifying rounds of the Electronic Sports World Cup and the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive 'GG Cup'.

The acquisition will give Game access to an eSports platform with an established audience, helping the retailer continue its push into the competitive gaming market - a move that began last year with the $30 million acquisition of Multiplay.

"Game is firmly committed to delivering the best experiences across all areas of the interactive entertainment and videogames business," said Pablo Crespo, MD of Game Spain.

"eSports present one of the most exciting developments in the industry and the acquisition of SocialNAT will help to accelerate our plans in this area, particularly in Spain."
