GDC sister event App Developers Conference organizers have announced two new talks added to the November line-up: Trulia's case study on developing a real estate app for Google Glass, and Mirada special projects head Andrew Merkin on dissecting transmedia business models. From the creators of the largest and longest-running game professional-focused Game Developers Conference (GDC), the brand new App Developers Conference (ADC) offers professionals a venue to share their knowledge about building, designing, marketing, and selling their apps. ADC will run November 5th-7th at the Los Angeles Convention Center and will be co-located with GDC Next. The future will be wearable, and in 'Trulia Case Study on Designing and Developing for Google Glass,' Trulia senior director of UX design David Hatch and VP of engineering Jeff McConathy will share the lessons they learned while building one of the device's first prototype apps, real estate locator Trulia for Glass. The two will also discuss what wearable consumer technology means for the future of mobile technology, and how developers and designers can keep up with it. What makes for a successful transmedia app? Devs looking for a full breakdown of the decision-making process behind successful and non-successful business models for transmedia apps should check out Apps and the Business & Marketing of Transmedia in Fiction' by Andrew Merkin, Mirada's head of special projects and transmedia. With credits in producing such projects as IBM's THINK Exhibit and app and Cornelia Funke's MirrorWorld on iOS, Merkin will walk developers through the transmedia app dev cycle, from concept and narrative development, to design and programming, and finally to release and marketing, so that attendees can translate the creative/production process into business strategies. These sessions join a number of previously announced talks by Netflix, Pandora, Evernote, and more -- all of which are now available on our expanding interactive Session Scheduler. Recent session additions include FitStar on testing and scaling to prevent service outage at launch, and Zimmdot on creating native iOS and Android apps by integrating Javascript. Also of note, ADC organizers recently shared survey results from over 250 app developers on issues they face currently, including piracy and discoverability on app stores. Those interested in the study can view all of the results for free.
