Sony is bringing more of its major game franchises to cinema and television screens around the world.

Horizon and God of War will be the latest PlayStation properties to be turned into TV shows, with the former currently in early development at Netflix and the latter officially heading to Amazon.

As highlighted by Variety, Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Tony Vinciquerra broke the news during a recent investor briefing. Deadline is also reporting that popular racing sim Gran Turismo will be getting the movie treatment.

The news is a reminder that Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions -- which was launched in 2019 to turn games into movies and TV shows -- remain keen to turn the company's largest game properties into multi-media franchises.

Sony's latest projects join others including television shows based on Twisted Metal and The Last of Us, the latter of which has already started shooting, and a movie based on Ghost of Tsushima.

The long-gestating Uncharted flick also made its way to theatres earlier this year and starred Tom Holland as Nathan Drake alongside former rapper Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan.
