Sony's Shuhei Yoshida and Mark Cerny reflect on the state of the industry

Sony's Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida spoke with Mark Cerny about his career last month at the Computer History Museum, and the full talk is now online for your viewing pleasure.
"Rami is one, Mike Bithell is another. What's great about indies is that they're managing themselves -- they don't need to ask PR for approval to say something. They can control their own destiny."
- Shuhei Yoshida shares his appreciation for the indie community onstage at the Computer History Museum. Last month, Sony's Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida sat down with veteran developer and PlayStation 4 system architect Mark Cerny to talk about his career onstage at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California. The talk was recorded, and is now available for public viewing on YouTube. There's a good bit of warmth and friendly back-and-forth between the pair, which befits their experience in the industry. Cerny is the first American to have been given charge of code development for a PlayStation console, and he and Yoshida have worked together for a very long time. Yoshida, who joined Sony Computer Entertainment in its early days, now oversees all of its first-party studios. Before ascending to that height, he worked directly on titles including Gran Turismo and Ico. Their conversation covers a number of topics, including Yoshida's early days at Sony, and is worth watching in full. We've taken the liberty of embedding it above.
