Sony announced today that Naughty Dog will release an enhanced version of its PlayStation 3 game The Last Of Us for PlayStation 4 this summer, roughly a year after the original game's release. The new version of the game, The Last Of Us Remastered, will reportedly sport technical improvements -- including upgraded textures, character models and lighting systems -- and include post-launch "major content releases" like the Left Behind DLC, as well as a director's commentary mode featuring creative director Neil Druckmann. Sony's announcement confirms rumors sparked by comments made by Playstation Eurasian Software Market Manager Sercan Sulun during an interview broadcast on a Turkish CNN affiliate last month. About halfway through the interview, Sulun denied any knowledge of a potential sequel but confirmed that The Last Of Us would be released for PlayStation 4 with "enhanced graphics" later this year. While the practice of updating and enhancing a game to rerelease it on newer, better hardware is commonplace, it's not often that the original developer does the work themselves. Also, it's rarely this speedy -- the original game was released less than a year ago, while the PlayStation 4 is barely six months old.
