Newsbrief: Today, Sony announced the North American release of its slim Vita system in a bundle with Gearbox's Borderlands 2. The package will go for for $199.99 in the U.S. with the game and an 8GB memory card this spring. The slimmer Vita, which is thinner and lighter than the original model and switches out its high-quality OLED screen for a new LCD, was announced last year in Japan and recently launched in Europe. The port of Borderlands 2 was announced at Sony's E3 press conference, and Sony will be publishing it. This is good news for the Vita, as North America was the only territory that lacked the cheaper/slimmer option. It's become a popular system for independent developers in recent times -- and greater consumer accessibility for the device will only shore that up.
