French game publisher Ubisoft on Tuesday announced strong support for Sony's upcoming PlayStation Vita handheld console, with iterations of popular franchises currently in the works for the platform.

Ubisoft has made it a point to get onto new platforms early on in their lifecycles, and followed the same strategy with PS Vita handheld rival, Nintendo's 3DS.
Ubisoft didn't offer further details such as launch dates and pricing. The PS Vita is slated to launch by the end of the year in Japan, and early 2012 in the U.S. and Europe. In the U.S., the Vita will sell for $250 for a wi-fi version, and $300 for a 3G/wi-fi version.

"We’ve got a strong and varied line-up that will offer fun and immersion to all audiences of the PS Vita."
