Newsbrief: Grand Theft Auto developer and publisher Rockstar Games has partnered with outsourcing firm Technicolor Digital Productions to set up a new artwork and animation unit in Bangalore, India. The unit is a part of Technicolor India, which has worked Rockstar several times in the past (along with other major game companies like Electronic Arts, Sony, and Square Enix) on triple-A projects like Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire, and Max Payne 3. With this partnership, Technicolor tells Gamasutra it's creating a team of around 80 to 90 employees who will work on art and animation for only Rockstar. The developer will not only save on costs through this arrangement, it will have more oversight on the group's production process than it would have if it worked with Technicolor on a contract basis.
