The latest game in PopCap's long-running, mega-popular gem-matching Bejeweled series will be coming simultaneously to the Nintendo DS, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this holiday season. The coordinated North American and European console release of Bejeweled 3 will include both retail and digital download versions on the Xbox 360 and PS3, and will be the first time PopCap has released a Bejeweled game simultaneously across multiple console platforms. Bejeweled 3 launched on PC and Mac last December with new game modes and enhanced graphics that can take advantage of hardware acceleration. The title received generally positive reviews, with critics giving mixed marks to the new modes and features. The Bejeweled series has sold over 50 million units across 17 platforms since its 2000 debut, and PopCap claims more than 500 million people have spent an estimated 8 billion hours playing the titles.
