Oculus to ship Touch controllers for $200 in the U.S. this December

Oculus has laid down a date and price for the company's upcoming Touch hand controllers: $199, with preorders opening later this month and units shipping in volume by December 6th.

At the Oculus Connect conference in San Jose today, company frontman Brendan Iribe took the stage to lay down a date and price for the company's upcoming Touch hand controllers: $199 in the U.S., with preorders opening later this month and units shipping in volume by December 6th.

This will notably bring Oculus' Rift headset in line, functionality-wise, with the competing HTC Vive headset, which shipped with wand motion controllers early this year.

The debut of Touch is also significant for Oculus because the company has long championed the "hand presence" Touch aims to foster as being key to the future of Oculus.

Iribe noted that a handful of new games "built for Touch" (including Epic Games' free game Robo Recall) are expected to debut alongside the controllers in December, and that all preorders of the controllers will also include free access to Oculus Touch games VR Sports Challenge and The Unspoken.

Iribe also talked up how Touch controllers are trackable by Oculus' room-scale VR camera -- and noted that Oculus plans to bundle a camera in with each Touch controller and start selling such cameras for $79 (in case you need one or need to replace one) on December 6th as well.
